Airbus and Hungary concluding a long-term cooperation agreement

A member of the biggest aviation and military corporation of Europe, Airbus Helicopters is going to establish its next manufacturing centre in Hungary. In the production unit to be constructed by the investment, high precision mechanical parts for helicopter dynamic systems are going to be produced from 2021. It is going to entail the creation of several hundred new jobs, too.

Airbus Group is the biggest aviation and military company of Europe. The Group produces passenger aircraft, helicopters, military and defence machinery and helicopters and tools to be used in space research and space voyages. The Group is active in more than 180 venues throughout the world and has a value chain consisting of more than 12,000 suppliers.

The sustainable and integrated new plant to produce high precision mechanical parts for helicopter dynamic systems is going to be placed in a hall of 15,000 square metres to be constructed on this site. Two Hungarian cities are on the shortlist, the venue is going to be decided on later.

Aviation industry grew in Hungary recently since Lufthansa Technik added an engineering centre to its aircraft maintenance activities, Diehl Aircabin established another engineering centre following its capacity expansions in Hungary, while Swiss-based RUAG Aerostructures now has as many as three manufacturing units in Hungary. As a result of this, the production value of aircraft and spacecraft production and repair was HUF 50.3 billion in 2017. It amounts to a 48% growth compared to 2016. The export-related price revenue grew by 62%. Its weight in the total price revenue reached 93.1%.
