The Consulate General of Hungary in New York hosted a special event where investment opportunities in Hungary were put into limelight. In the framework of the investment forum "Hungary: Where Innovation Creates Value", Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Róbert Ésik, CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) presented the "Chain Bridge Budapest Award" to Arconic. The prize, handed over for the third time, went to the US company in recognition for their outstanding journey in Hungary, from a small manufacturing unit to a European centre.

With a history of more than a quarter of a century in Hungary, Arconic now has manufacturing and office units in Székesfehérvár and Nemesvámos, serving customers in the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation and industrial markets. Through these highly advanced facilities and the dedication of the local workforce, Arconic's Hungarian presence has developed into a key contributor to five of the company's main global businesses and one of the 10 largest US investors in the manufacturing sector in Hungary.

Arconic was among the first companies to establish a BSC in Hungary, in 1996. The Global Shared Services Centre in Székesfehérvár now covers Financial and Administrative services globally, while the Central Support Services serves the local units.

As a strategic partner of the Hungarian government, Arconic currently employs approximately 2,200 people in Hungary and has built a strong cooperation with 6 universities, also taking part in the dual education system.

The most recent Hungarian investment of the US company aims to double the production volume of its European Arconic Wheel and Transportation Products activities, based in Székesfehérvár. The greenfield investment of EUR 110 million is fully on track to start production upon completion of the investment.

The story of Arconic in Hungary is the prime example of what we are working for: over the recent decades, thanks to continuous expansion and technological development, an American investor establishing a smaller plant and less complex production in Hungary made its headquarters in Székesfehérvár as one of its most advanced units and at the same time the European centre of its Wheel and Transportation Products division. Apart from the production activities, they also settled a business service centre in Hungary, creating high value-added jobs during these years. The presence of Arconic in Hungary is a genuine success story for the company and for Hungary as well

– explained Róbert Ésik, CEO of HIPA.

Thus in 2019 the "Chain Bridge Budapest Award" goes to Arconic, the first award winner from the manufacturing area, for their outstanding journey in Hungary that still has huge potential to grow even further.
