SK Innovation: the largest greenfield FDI project ever to start in Iváncsa - VIDEO REPORT

One of the world's leading battery manufacturers, the Korean SK Innovation is embarking on yet another major project in Hungary. With a greenfield investment of USD 2.29 billion, the company's largest European factory unit is to be established in Iváncsa. In addition to their two factories in Komárom, the annual capacity of the production base to be launched third will be 30GWh, creating 2,500 new jobs and enabling the production of 430,000 electric cars per year. Construction starts at the end of 2021.

2020 was also a special year for the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). Although operations were still normal at the beginning of the year, the pandemic that started in the spring brought about unprecedented challenges for both investors and the country at large. Despite the circumstances, HIPA contributed to the implementation of 907 projects in 2020, as a result of which investment worth EUR 4,078 million is realized in Hungary, creating 12,914 jobs.

HIPA is the best investment promotion agency in the region for the second time at AIM, Dubai

The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency has again recorded a landmark achievement. Hungary's investment environment and HIPA's efforts have now been recognised at the annual congress of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) event, as being the best investment promotion agency in the region of Central Eastern Europe and Turkey. This can be partly attributed to the results of another record year of investments in 2019 and to the special investment project of South Korea-based SK Innovation in Komárom. The award was received by Róbert Ésik, CEO of HIPA, who said thanks for the honour in the following video message.


Dongwha to establish two units in one step in Sóskút - VIDEO REPORT

Dongwha is opening its first European units in Hungary. Within the framework of its investment of EUR 32.1 million, the South Korea-based company is building already two units in Sóskút: one for producing electrolyte and another to recycle the solvent NMP. Both activities are closely linked to the EV (electric vehicle) battery manufacturing value chain, creating an additional 90 jobs, mainly for engineers.

Following successful preparation of the land by the City of Debrecen, BMW Group started the official handover process today, that will be finalized by end of May. An unprecedented number of 101 investments targeted Hungary in 2019, through the assistance of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). For these investments, awards were granted in eight categories at HIPA's 'Investor of the Year' gala event. The prizes were presented by Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Róbert Ésik, CEO of HIPA.
