The most prominent investors of 2019 have been honoured in eight categories

An unprecedented number of 101 investments targeted Hungary in 2019, through the assistance of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). For these investments, awards were granted in eight categories at HIPA's 'Investor of the Year' gala event. The prizes were presented by Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Róbert Ésik, CEO of HIPA.


2019 marks another record year in FDI for Hungary

Topping all previous records, the volume of investments successfully negotiated by the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) amounted to EUR 5,350 million in 2019, exceeding the previous year's amount by 24%. As a result of the 101 projects realized based on the positive decision of investors, 13,493 new workplaces are to be created in Hungary. By analysing the results of the previous year, the most important trends are the surge of investments from Asian countries, the strengthening of the electromobility sector, as well as the increasing number of high value-added projects in the services industry. Furthermore, the competitiveness of the Hungarian investment environment is well illustrated by the fact that the 101 investments can be linked to 21 different countries and take place in 20 different sectors.


The Expat CEO of the Year prize was awarded to Ms Melanie Seymour

The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) and the Budapest Business Journal (BBJ) have awarded the most prominent foreign executives living and working in Hungary for the sixth time. The "Expat CEO of the Year" recognition is awarded by the professional jury for the person who has done the most for domestic development as well as the company's international recognition through their outstanding professional knowledge and results: this year the prize was earned by Ms Melanie Seymour, the Head of Global Client Services, BlackRock. HIPA's "Partnership Award" special prize was granted to Dale A. Martin, the President&CEO of Siemens Zrt..


Business Services Hungary 2019: The latest trends of BSCs in the spotlight - VIDEO

The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) has organized the sectoral conference and award ceremony for the fifth time. This year again, the foundation of the program was provided by the comprehensive survey conducted among the business service centres (BSC). The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) has organized a partner meeting titled "Battery Workshop ‒ Rising influence of the Hungarian battery industry" related to EV battery production and electromobility. The multinational companies operating in Hungary had a chance to learn about the wide range of products and services of national small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in connection with electrically powered technologies, and the SME's could also assess the potential of cooperation at the event.

The Consulate General of Hungary in New York hosted a special event where investment opportunities in Hungary were put into limelight. In the framework of the investment forum "Hungary: Where Innovation Creates Value", Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Róbert Ésik, CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) presented the "Chain Bridge Budapest Award" to Arconic. The prize, handed over for the third time, went to the US company in recognition for their outstanding journey in Hungary, from a small manufacturing unit to a European centre.
