How should corporations get ready to engage with startups and 'open innovation'?

This was the exciting question answered by Alex Farcet, co-founder of Startupbootcamp, the largest global industry focused accelerator network, to the managers of large companies who deem innovation important and wish to keep pace and gain competitive advantage in the continuously changing economic, social and technological transformation. By supporting the workshop, HIPA aims to strengthen its relationship with the range of domestic and international large companies, thereby transferring real knowledge to the participants and creating value.


The Hungarian automotive industry’s step into a new dimension is a joint objective

Representatives of the major OEMs and automotive suppliers present in Hungary, small and medium-sized Hungarian supplier enterprises, institutions of higher education responsible for the training of labour supply and the government were represented on the highest level and in large numbers at the fourth Automotive Conference organised by the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). The event aims to provide an opportunity for sector participants to discuss the present and future possibilities of vehicle manufacturing, thereby supporting cooperation and the future development of the sector.


Rural locations in focus

Investment promotion, sectoral and communications leaders and experts of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) launch further training for the leaders of cities in the countryside, which increasingly become a subject of interest for investors. The training – as an after-care of the Investor-Friendly Location program – aims to ensure that municipalities manage both already established and potential foreign investors even more professionally.


President of HIPA among members of the National Competitiveness Council

The eight-member National Competitiveness Council – consisting of experts called up by Mihály Varga, Minister for National economy – held its inaugural meeting; it has the task of drawing up and reviewing initiatives relevant to the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy. Róbert Ésik, president of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) can contribute to the effective function of the council through his in-depth knowledge of the needs of foreign investors and his management experiences from the private sector.


Prestigious awards for Budapest and HIPA

The Hungarian investment environment, specifically Budapest, has once again received prestigious international recognition: On the "TOP 25 FDI Strategy" list of fDi Magazine's 2017 "fDi's Global Cities of the Future" category, Budapest – as the only city in the region – finished 22nd place. In addition to Budapest, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) also received an award in the "Big Team" category of the "fDi Strategy Awards" at the MIPIM real estate fair in Cannes.


EUR 1.5 billion and 6,000 new jobs on stage

With the support of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), positive decisions were made on investment projects to be implemented in Hungary in the case of more than ever, a total of 71 projects last year. HIPA awarded the most outstanding of these at the annual 'Investors of the Year' gala event in the Ceremonial Hall of Pesti Vigadó. The awards were handed over by Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Robert Ésik, President of HIPA.


BBJ and HIPA awarded foreign CEO's of the year

Joerg Bauer, CEO of GE Hungary Kft., has been recognized as the most influential foreign CEO in Hungary by the Budapest Business Journal. Ekkehard Philipp, CFO of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft., received the HIPA Local Partnership award in recognition of his firmʼs use of local suppliers.


Hungarian winners at the most significant regional SSC event

Hungarian nominees have won in five categories at the Central Eastern European Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards gala event in Warsaw. The city of Debrecen, British Telecom (BT ROC), British Petrol (BP GBS) and Tata Consultancy Services were awarded this year at the most important regional event of the shared service sector (SSC).


Hungary may be the gateway for Chinese investments into the European Union

The China Overseas Investment Fair (COIFAIR), China's number one professional forum focusing on investments abroad, is held in Beijing between October 20 and 21. At the event the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) is promoting domestic investment opportunities. Furthermore, an agreement of paramount importance has been concluded between HIPA and CODA (China Overseas Development Association) encouraging bilateral business relations, and within that, in particular, China's direct investment in Hungary.
