Eight Hungarian cities and regions among the best European locations of the future

Altogether an unprecedented number of eight Hungarian cities and regions came in top 10 in the 2020 ranking of fDi magazine, a publication by the Financial Times. Besides Budapest, Debrecen, Miskolc, Székesfehérvár, Tatabánya, Veszprém, alongside Central Hungary and the Northern Great Plain take a prominent place in the list of the European cities and regions of the future. The results are in line with HIPA's strategic objective as to strive to provide FDI investors with the same high-standard support and assistance countrywide, building on the cooperation of the respective municipalities.

The world's largest asset manager, the American BlackRock settled in its new Budapest office with a perspective to further expand its innovation and technology centre. The Budapest office has grown to be the third largest among twenty BlackRock offices in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) within less than two years. It has become the firm's largest office in Continental Europe.


HIPA joins Startup Safary the second time

Having already organised in about 20 cities around the world, the series of events called Startup Safary was joined by Budapest in 2017. The newly organised two-day startup festival attracted as many as 3,000 participants. Following the corporate innovation workshop in the last year, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) presents specific training programmes and international speakers on both days to bring corporations striving for innovation and agile Hungarian startups closer to each other this year.


Governor Holcomb attended Hungary-Indiana Business Forum at HIPA headquarters

Governor Eric J. Holcomb and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger, together with Dr László Szabó, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade attended a business forum hosted by the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) to foster overseas partnerships and advance innovation. Governor Holcomb and his delegation also met managers of US companies operating in Hungary, Hungarian government officials and start-ups to encourage economic cooperation between Indiana and Hungary.


On the verge of 5G: Nokia is developing the thinking network of the future in Budapest

Nokia Skypark, one of the largest IT and telecommunications R&D centre of Hungary was officially introduced in the Corvin quarter of Budapest. The newly built complex will not only house the Nokia Global Technology Centre but also accommodate research conducted by the Hungarian branch of Nokia Bell Labs. The Budapest unit of Nokia is already operating with a staff of 2,000, many of whom work on technological development at a global standard.

HIPA and MSD Pharma Hungary signed a Memorandum of Understanding

With a view to further strengthening strategic cooperation, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) and MSD Pharma Hungary Kft. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Within the framework of the established partnership, HIPA is providing a one-stop-shop project and after care service for job creation and staff training, and research and development programmes of the American based pharmaceutical company, while MSD will continue to contribute to the long-term growth the Hungarian economy through high added-value activities.
