New investment of the Samvardhana Motherson Group in Hungary has been inaugurated

The new production plant of MATE, belonging to the Samvardhana Motherson Group (SMG), has been inaugurated in Túrkeve, Hungary. The Indian company's newest unit, specialised for injection moulded plastic parts, has been constructed at a floor area of 12,000 square metres through an investment of EUR 16 million, and created 100 new jobs.

Samvardhana Motherson Group (SMG), founded in 1975, is one of the world's largest automotive suppliers, providing full service delivery from designing to the manufacture of the prototype, casting, and assembly. SMG's business portfolio covers a wide range of automotive products; therefore, the group delivers external and internal elements and systems to all large vehicle manufacturers. It also provides a full range of IT services and designing engineering services to various industrial segments; what's more, supplies also aviation industry products. The company, with an extensive scope of activities and portfolio, employs more than 106,000 people in 37 countries and through 230 operational units.

The Indian company group has a number of operational units also in Hungary, as the current one is the sixth production unit in Hungary. SMR Hungary has developed to be one of the largest rear-view mirror manufacturers of the world: through the three manufacturing units and logistic centre, it supplies more than eight million sets of external mirrors a year to, among others, to various types of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Porsche, Kia, Ford, and Jaguar Land Rover. Samvardhana Motherson Peguform (SMP) produces bumpers in Kecskemét, Hungary for its partners, while MATE produces plastic car parts and equipment in Túrkeve.

In the frames of the now inaugurated investment, MATE has been enlarged by an injection moulding plant and an assembly unit. Through the development amounting to about EUR 16 million, another 100 new jobs specialised for the production of plastic parts has also been created. The excellent quality and reliability of the group's products is well confirmed by the fact that they are used in the vehicles of among others Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Volkswagen and Volvo.
