Hungary Ranked as Top Investment Location in the Region

After securing second place the previous year, Hungary reclaimed the top spot in 2026 in the ranking of the American investment promotion magazine Site Selection, which highlights the region's premier investment locations.

Hungary ranks ahead of Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Slovenia in a ranking of Eastern European and Central Asian countries by Conway Data, a leading service provider for large corporate investments.

The five best investment destinations in the region were ranked as part of the 2026 survey of the research series called Global Best To Invest. The research, presented in the May issue of Site Selection, analyzed data from Conway Data, Kearney, and DHL, alongside metrics from international bodies such as the UN’s World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the OECD.

These rankings highlight the most promising global and regional locations for corporate investment, in global and regional comparisons. Hungary usually ranks high, ranking first in 2024 and second in the latest regional rankings.

The study also evaluates metropolitan areas, placing Budapest third in the 2026 "Top Five Cities: Eastern Europe and Central Asia" category, following a second-place finish in 2025.

HIPA was established in 2014 as a national investment promotion organisation. The agency’s most important task is to provide professional assistance to foreign and Hungarian companies wishing to invest in Hungary. Between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2025, HIPA guided 2,305 projects with a value of more than 66 billion euros to create close to 187,000 new jobs.
