Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency

Site Selection is the professional magazine of the US-based Conway, Inc. consultancy firm. It is among the most popular magazines on investment, investment site selection and economic development in the US. It has been in circulation for 60 years, and readers in total and on average contribute to 130 investment projects of USD 12 billion per month.

The Global Best To Invest survey is published annually and it is based on Conway's database of capital investments into private-sector facilities which include investment projects representing an investment of at least USD 1 million, creating at least 20 jobs or requiring 1,900 square meters of newly developed space. The report also takes into consideration various international competitiveness rankings.

The most recent survey based on the data of 2017 has been published at the beginning of this May and with an excellent performance Hungary has managed to rank among the top 10 in 3 categories. Based on the complex evaluation criteria referred to above Hungary was named as the best country for investment in the Eastern Europe & Central Asia region. Hungary also achieved No. 1 ranking for investment volume per capita.

Besides being the best in the region Hungary holds the 8th position in the global ranking of the number of investment projects and thus is among the top 10 best investment target countries together for example with China, Germany or the UK.

The survey also investigated national and regional investment promotion agencies (IPAs). The survey involved more than 1,000 international consultants, and a jury of FDI professionals and experts of Site Selection awarded the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) as the Top Investment Promotion Agency of the Eastern Europe & Central Asia region.

HIPA is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade with a main focus on investment promotion. It received the award based on its results in promoting FDI, the quality and complexity of services offered for customers, the expertise, language skills and customer-friendly attitude of its employees and the feedback of investors already established in Hungary. Official awards ceremony will take place at the event The World Forum for FDI in June 2018 in Liverpool.
