Leading investment platform AIM Congress gathered renowned FDI stakeholders from all over the globe in Abu Dhabi yet again where HIPA was presented the AIM Investment Award for the Central, Eastern Europe & Turkey Region.
Being an initiative of the AIM Global Foundation, AIM Congress (Annual Investment Meeting) is a leading investment platform in the Middle East that gathers corporate leaders, policy-makers, businessmen, regional and international investors, entrepreneurs, leading academics, and experts showcasing up-to-date information, strategies and knowledge on attracting investments.
AIM took place for the 13th time this year, drawing 12,000+ participants from more than 180 countries. Among the highlights of the event was the AIM Awards ceremony where HIPA was recognized as the best investment promotion agency in the Central, Eastern Europe & Turkey Region category for the third time after 2019 and 2020.
The excellent result can be attributed to the fact that FDI inflow to Hungary reached an all-time high of EUR 13 billion in 2023, doubling the record from one year earlier. The number of newly created jobs also hit a new high at close to 20,000.
“We managed to excel against the backdrop of economic gloom, with global FDI flows dropping by 7% last year according to the OECD. We continue to aim high and strive to attract investments from all over the world,” HIPA CEO István Joó said.
The AIM Congress covered five key topics: foreign direct investment, SME support, portfolio investments abroad, cities of the future and startups. The 2024 edition of the gathering also placed great emphasis on new gen tech solutions such AI, quantum technologies, cloud services, supply chain digitization, blockchain and more.
