Joint R&D project of DMG MORI and HEITEC will be launched in Budapest - VIDEO REPORT
2021. 06. 15.
The world's leading machine tool manufacturer, DMG MORI and software specialist HEITEC's joint research and development project aims to develop software solutions, which make their machine tools more productive and sustainable by digitising the entire manufacturing process chain end-to-end. In the course of more than EUR 11,6 million investment by DMG MORI HEITEC Digital, 55 new research and development jobs will be created.
DMG MORI is engaged in the manufacturing and sale of machine tools (CNC turning machines and other products), and in addition, it provides automation systems, peripherals, digital and tool working solutions to its customers. HEITEC offers products and services related to automation, digitisation and electronics. The new R&D project will be implemented by DMG MORI HEITEC Digital Kft., which is the Joint Venture of HEITEC Hungary and the German DMG MORI, founded in 2020.
The aim of the "Integrated Digitalisation Platform" is to digitise the entire manufacturing process chain end-to-end, from design and work preparation to production, follow-up and servicing. Thanks to the investment, ideas, products and service solutions will be offered to the world from Hungary, and the project will develop software tools that make DMG's machine tools more productive and sustainable.
Under the project, a new product will be developed that includes a platform supporting full digital production and associated digital services (applications). From processing customer orders the platform supports digital bidding (webshop function), the design and optimisation of distributed manufacturing and production processes, as well as production capacities (brokerage function).
The platform shall also integrate surveillance and monitoring of production machines, including digital support for maintenance and logistical processes. For instance, the status information from the production machines may be directly accessible by maintenance and component suppliers, who can in turn take steps before the production machines fail to prevent a longer production line from shutting down (predictive maintenance).
