2023. 06. 02.

Austrian-owned Kronospan-MOFE Hungary Kft. invests EUR 5.6 million in total to boost its high density fiberboard (HDF) production capacity in its plant located in Mohács, Baranya county, Hungary. The large-scale investment that has entered its final phase helps the company secure its key market position and contributes to Hungary’s overall export performance.

Established over 125 years ago in Austria, Kronospan is now a leading global player in the wood industry. The company has 39 manufacturing and sales units all over the world, whereas distribution targets 123 countries.

The Hungarian subsidiary, Kronospan-MOFE started its operation in 2004 with the aim to manufacture and sell high and medium density fiberboards. Apart from manufacturing, the Hungarian operation also provides financial, commercial and logistics services in different languages.

Given the capital-intensive nature of the industry, Kronospan-MOFE has been investing from time to time to keep pace with global competition. Its latest campaign that started in 2021 has now entered the very final phase whereby EUR 5.6 million has been spent on purchasing new machinery. The ultimate purpose of the capacity expansion was to minimize production-related losses, and optimize and maximize manufacturing capabilities.

As a result of the investment, Kronospan-MOFE can further focus on exports that make up some 95% of its sales.

The company also keeps up its policy that puts sustainability to the fore. In fact, it has been awarded multiple times for being an energy conscious and energy-efficient business.
