Linamar to establish its European e-mobility base in Hungary

Constructing its third site in Hungary, Linamar is going to establish its European electromobility centre in Békéscsaba. The Canada-based automotive company is orienting towards electro-mobility by producing its own-developed electric drivetrains. Due to a complex investment worth EUR 78 million, the emobility related development covers 56.6 million creating 250 competitive jobs, that are guaranteed for a long term, are going to be created.

The Canadian group operates, among others, in the field of the manufacturing of automotive and mobile industrial equipment and of light, heavy and other vehicles. With more than 29,000 employees, Linamar Corporation has 60 factories, 8 development centres, and 25 commercial offices in 17 countries in North- and South-America, Europe and Asia.

The development and the future growth prospects of Linamar Hungary Zrt. have been mainly ensured by the automotive part production business model, which had already proved its worth with the Canadian parent company, so far. Therefore Linamar focused on the expansion of the product range in Hungary recently. In line with the strategic objectives, the development announced in February 2018 concerns the lifting machinery production and the extension of automotive capacities, affecting three premises: a total of 200 new jobs is to be created in Orosháza, Békéscsaba and Gyöngyös as a result of the developments. In Orosháza, the pillars of our new production hall are on their place already.

The recent European investment with a total cost of EUR 78 million is going to expand capacities and further enhance the Hungarian portfolio, using a technology which is especially future-oriented: Linamar is going to establish electric drivetrains production in Hungary. In the production hall of 10,000 squaremetres to be constructed in the third site in Békéscsaba, 250 new employees are going to contribute to the production of electric powertrains, which represent the future of the automotive industry.
