OBO Bettermann Celebrates 110th Anniversary With Large-Scale Developments

An investment of EUR 49 million at its site in Bugyi, located near Budapest, is set to boost the growth of electric installation manufacturer OBO Bettermann. The German company that celebrates 110 years of operation will build a new surface treatment plant, expand its logistics capacity, and create 100 new jobs as a result.
OBO Bettermann is a German family business with long traditions that manufactures industrial, building as well as safety and protection installations for industrial purposes. Having been operating in Hungary since 1993, the company is present in over 60 countries worldwide. Its Hungarian site is located in Bugyi, a place 40 km from Budapest.
The investment announced includes further development and manufacturing of the Group’s existing and new product portfolio in Hungary, the installation of a new surface treatment plant and the expansion of related logistics capacities. After prodiving public utilities, the building of new production and logistics halls will follow, then equipment and machinery will be purchased. Main markets for distribution are countries in Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
OBO Bettermann’s investment perfectly demonstrates the ongoing activity of German investors in Hungary whose share of the total FDI stock accounts for 22.7%. The new developments that are expected to start this year will also add to the performance of the local electronics sector where some 150,00 are employed.
