Szentkirályi Celebrates Business Anniversary With New Plant Designed To Embrace Sustainability

Szentkirályi Magyarország, Hungary’s leading mineral water producer has hit the first milestone of its 5-year development program by investing HUF 2.8 billion. The company that celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation this year wishes to commemorate the occasion by implementing a major capacity extension, while gearing up for the era of sustainability.

Having been awarded the prize for the world’s best mineral water, Szentkirályi has been focusing on a series of developments since 2003. PET bottling production lines, warehouses and other accessory equipment have been installed along the way, and the water treatment technology has also been upgraded.

With sustainability-related legal requirements becoming ever stricter, the company is preparing for the transition with massive investments. Hence, a five-year development project was launched last year, and the first milestone thereof is Szentkirályi’s newly inaugurated state-of-the-art production hall. The HUF 2.8 billion investment causes bottling capacity to soar significantly thanks to the newly installed production lines; on the other hand, it allows for Pepsi products to be bottled in Hungary again within one or two years. The latter is important to further cut the related carbon footprint. The investment results in the creation of 16 jobs.

The new production line is fully compliant with the principles of the circular economy since the installed bottling technology is suitable for handling PET bottles that will be subject to a deposit scheme from 2024 on.

The investment boosts the local economy and provides the company with the necessary capacities to serve its clientele in the long run.
