The biggest ultrafiltration membrane plant is to be developed in Oroszlány

SUEZ expands its ultrafiltration plant with an investment of about EUR 30 million in Oroszlány. Through this development, the so called Manufacturing Center of Excellence unit of SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions will be the biggest of its kind in Europe, helping the global fight for proper wastewater treatment and credible freshwater supply.

The foundation of SUEZ group dates back to 1858, until the opening of the Suez Channel. The French company seated in Paris has more than 450,000 clients worldwide employing more than 90,000 individuals. In 2018, SUEZ produced 7.6 billion cubic metres of drinking water and handled 1.17 cubic metres of sewage. Besides, the amount of the treated waste exceeded 45 million tons, 3.6 million of which were hazardous materials.

SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions, the division involved in the recent investment in Hungary, has further strengthened its position in the global market by the acquisition of GE Water in 2017.

The Oroszlány unit has been developed with a total investment amount of about EUR 130 million in the past 15 years and has become one of the biggest hollow-fiber ultrafiltration membrane producer in the world. The most important products manufactured here are special SUEZ ultrafiltration solutions and devices for water and wastewater treatment that are building blocks of many advanced industrial and municipal wastewater treatment facilities helping to separate particles, bacteria, and viruses from water. Products from Hungary are used all over the world, including the highly efficient, mobile units of the UN and NATO forces. SUEZ also has a research and development centre of 30 chemists located in Oroszlány and Tatabánya.

This latest investment of EUR 30 million aims to further increase the production area and capacity of the Hungarian SUEZ plant, including the establishment of a brand new storage facility. The project, that creates 85 new jobs to the current staff of 1,200, is not only helping to develop the output of the county and the Hungarian economy, but contributes to fight for proper freshwater solution of the developing countries as well.
