Being a seasoned IT pro with decades of experience, John Ford is a master of productivity. Under one of his projects five European plants employing 2-300 people each were replaced by a single new one in Poland that is now run by 16 workers and delivers the same output. In this episode of our podcast, we therefore wanted to pick John’s brain about how to enhance productivity and competitiveness and fight labor shortage to give further boost to growth. Well, the answer lies a lot more in encouragement than in switching to ‘demon mode’.

Having spent well over one and half decades here, renowned IT expert John Ford is someone living and breathing software development in Hungary, and as such he is the right person to discuss how the country’s economic and FDI landscape has evolved in the recent past.

Thanks to his profession John is also a master of productivity, so we asked him what needs to be done to improve that key indicator on the macro level.

One thing is for sure in that regard, though: he doesn’t believe in Elon Musk’s occasional ‘demon mode’-type leadership as he rather relies on the power of encouragement.

Listen to the full show now, and find out what else John had to share on:

  • what 44,000 IT professionals allegedly missing from the labor market have to do with Gogol’s Dead Souls
  • to what extent he’s perceiving the strategic shift to knowledge-intensive investments
  • whether AI is a silver bullet when it comes to labor shortage and competitiveness
  • why it was the perfect choice for him to move to Hungary
