GE Healthcare Invests to Start an R&D Development in Szeged and Budapest

GE Healthcare invests HUF 3.3 billion to expand their healthcare development centres present since 2014 in Szeged and Budapest. The broadening of software development activities will allow faster access to analytics data for medical professionals. The investment will result in creating 45 R&D related new jobs as well.

The business service centre of British Petrol (BP) in Hungary has evolved to be the largest of the global network within a decade. The office in Budapest, founded ten years ago and the office in Szeged, launched two years ago employ 2,500 people, making Hungary one of the most important countries for the company. At the event celebrating the 10th jubilee of BP in Hungary, held at Szeged, BP announced that they would install solar panels on the roof of the Szeged office, decreasing their yearly CO2 emissions by 45 tons.


New BP centre delivered in Szeged

BP has inaugurated the second Hungarian office of its Global Business Services (GBS) Centre. At present, 274 employees work in the new office operating in cooperation with the Budapest Centre, but it will create 500 high added value jobs in total in the county town of Csongrád until the expansion project is completed in 2020. BP's choice fell on Szeged due to its good infrastructure, excellent university and high number of talented young people.


Szeged builds on knowledge-based sectors

The world-class ELI research centre and the strong academic background can transform Szeged to a regional innovation centre in Hungary.

Investment promotion, sectoral and communications leaders and experts of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) held a training for the leaders of Szeged, which has increasingly become a subject of interest for investors. The training – as an after-care of Investor-Friendly Location programme of last year – aims to ensure that municipalities manage both already established and potential foreign investors even more professionally.


Hungary on the map of investors operating in the ICT sector

IT Services Hungary, which belongs to the German Deutsche Telekom Group, and which celebrates its 10th birthday this year, is to create at least 360 high added-value jobs of at its centres in Debrecen, Pécs and Szeged – Péter Szijjártó, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade announced.


BP to open new service centre in Szeged

BP announced that it will be opening its second Global Business Services (GBS) centre in Hungary. The investment of the British company creates potentially up to 500 high added-value jobs in Szeged by 2020. BP appreciates the help and support of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) to collaborate in the setting up of the new centre.
