Hauni to start development for technology and capacity expansion in Pécs

Another investment is to be launched at the Pécs site of Hauni Hungaria which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The industrial equipment and machinery manufacturing division of the German Körber Group is going to spend EUR 18.5 million on the expansion of its manufacturing and service area. By modernising its machinery park and applying Industry 4.0 technologies, it is going to move towards digitised and paper-free production. The majority of the 100 jobs created in the framework of the development are positions demanding high qualifications.

The history of Körber Group started when a small plant named Hauni Maschinenfabrik was established for the repair of industrial machinery in Hamburg in 1946. The registered office of the group is still there. The international technology industry group now consists of more than 140 production, service and sales companies. To date, the field of industrial machinery is the most important one in its portfolio which covers five divisions, that is, logistics systems, pharmaceutical packaging systems, hygiene products, digital solutions and machinery production. Globally, Körber AG is present in 34 countries, employing more than 11,000 persons. Belonging to the industrial machinery production division of Körber Group as its founding company, Hauni Maschinenbau has a leading role in the fields of international industrial technologies, technical services and advising.

Hauni Hungária was founded in 1994 to buy the halls and machinery of Sopiana Machinery Plant in Pécs later. The company offers a wide range of services in the field of the manufacturing of equipment and machinery, from construction through cutting, plate working, and the assembly of structural units and machines to the development of complete machines and equipment. Employing more than 1,300 persons, the Pécs unit, with its four production halls and constructions at its production site of 52,000 square metres, is the second largest plant of Körber Group.

Worth more than EUR 18.5 million, this project announced just now is going to reinforce the position of the Hungarian company within the group since the production area is going to be expanded within the comprehensive development with the modernisation of the service logistics and quality management buildings, the renewing of the machinery park as well as Industry 4.0 technologies are going to be applied to move towards digitised and paper-free production. The 100 new jobs created in the framework of the investment - mostly demanding high qualifications - have already been filled with the help of the dual education program.
