FOSS quadruplicates their employee number in Hungary by adding 100 new, high added value R&D jobs

FOSS quadruplicates their employee number in Hungary by adding 88 new, high added value R&D jobs to the existing 30 positions. Moreover, Soft Flow, the subsidiary of the Danish biotechnology company is building a 2000 square-metres, complex, Scandinavian-style office. The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) assisted the EUR 6.3 million project with comprehensive project management services.

FOSS creates end-to-end solutions that secure and improve food quality, from raw material to finished product. Their analysis instruments refine measurements into information management that enables businesses to run intelligent data-driven productions with less waste and bigger yields. The family-owned Danish company was founded in 1956. It's headquartered in Hillerød, Denmark, while development and production takes place in Denmark, China and Hungary. 80% of the grain, and 85% of the milk marketed globally is tested by products of the Danish company. FOSS, employing more than 14,000 highly qualified employees worldwide, products are marketed and sold through a global network in 30 countries.

Hungarian subsidiary of FOSS, Soft Flow Hungary grew into an international recognized R&D company in the past and today employs more than 30 talented people working with biotechnology, research and assay development with bioanalytical services. In 2016, after years of successful strategic collaboration, FOSS acquired Soft Flow thus enabled the beginning of a new era for Soft Flow. The Pécs unit is with strategic importance, because they produce chemical elements that are the 'soul' of the most innovative FOSS products.

The recently announced EUR 6.3 million project creates 88 high added value R&D jobs, while building them a modern, 2000 square-metres Scandinavian-style office I Pécs. The new building will include everything needed, from offices, meeting rooms, SW development, R&D laboratories, facilities for simulations, mechanical engineering to reagent production with necessary Service- and Quality Control laboratories allowing for release and distribution of goods. The building expected to be completed until December 2019.

According to the Danish company, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) has proved to be an excellent support and professional partner for FOSS throughout the decision making process to expand further in Hungary.

The decision settles a 1-year long search process for an optimal space meant for an additional R&D location within the EU zone. The FOSS headquarter is in Hillerød, Denmark. During the process, FOSS has evaluated the majority of the countries within the EU zone and finally, with the support of HIPA, the decision landed on Pécs.

Another key reason for us to expand in Pécs is the very good and long-term cooperation with the university that Soft Flow has. Knowledge is of outmost importance to us and the very key to unlock the potentials in Biotech. There is a lot of exciting research that we can work on in collaboration with the University of Pécs,

added Niels Degn, Senior Vice President R&D, FOSS.

The University of Pécs has a special focus on Biotech and Software development, both areas where FOSS is planning large extensions.
