A unique opportunity was offered to 15 Hungarian automotive suppliers to negotiate directly with the purchasers of Audi Hungaria at an online B2B forum jointly organized by Audi Hungaria and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). The Supplier Day provided an opportunity for the previously selected Hungarian small- and medium sized enterprises to join the company group's supply chain in the future.

Audi Hungaria with headquarters in Győr, is the main engine supplier for the Audi and Volkswagen Group and the largest engine plant in the world; the Audi TT and A3 model variants, as well as all the whole Audi Q3 portfolio are manufactured here. In 2019, the total number of motors manufactured by Audi Hungaria approached two million. Since their introduction in 2018, more than 100,000 motors for electric cars have been manufactured here. The total number of manufactured cars exceeded 168,000 in 2019, which were delivered to 90 countries worldwide. Audi Hungaria has long been one of the largest companies in Hungary in terms of revenue and also one of the largest exporters in the country. Based on recent data, the premium carmaker currently employs nearly 13,000 associates in Győr.

As a member of the Volkswagen Group, Audi Hungaria is constantly looking for Hungarian companies that could successfully join its supply chain, but, in addition to domestic cooperation, they can also participate in the large-scale production of the entire VW Group. To this end, Audi Hungaria and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) jointly organized an online business-to-business forum, where 15 Hungarian suppliers were given the opportunity to introduce themselves to the company's representatives. The cooperation between Audi Hungaria and HIPA started years ago. In 2017, an Innovation Day was held where 7 Hungarian startups were given the opportunity to introduce their activities to the leading automotive company.

In addition to serving the needs of investors, a top-priority aim of HIPA is to increase the role of Hungarian SMEs engaged in supplying products or services, and channel them in the value chain of integrators so that they can contribute to the role in increasing of the Hungarian value portion. All this has a special importance, given that OEMs in the automotive industry require more and more from their suppliers to undertake a larger part in the R&D processes. In order to promote and facilitate this, HIPA provides supplier trainings, professional advice and an intermediary assistance free of charge for Hungarian companies. Since 2014, 33 Hungarian suppliers have attended training programmes organized by the VW Group and HIPA, of which 21 passed the audits and 15 companies even received nomination from the leading company group.
